Coursera reports that in 2023, leadership courses offered by Google and IIM-A were the most favored among Indians.

In 2023, Coursera found that many Indians were interested in GenAI content, with searches growing four times compared to the previous year. Coursera studied data from over 22.2 million registered learners in India and discovered that GenAI content and IIM Ahmedabad’s Leadership Skills courses were the most popular in the country. According to Coursera, Indian learners were enrolling in GenAI content approximately every three minutes in 2023. To meet this demand, leading global educators launched more than 35 courses or projects on genAI on Coursera, resulting in 196,000 enrollments in India. One notable course in this field is “Generative AI for Everyone” by AI pioneer, Andrew Ng. Within just six weeks of its launch, it became the fastest-growing course in 2023 and has the second highest enrollment from Indian learners. After GenAI, the second most popular course was IIM Ahmedabad’s Leadership Skills, covering topics such as influence, authority, power dynamics, stress management, and lessons from the epic Mahabharata. There was also an increase in courses that are part of entry-level professional certificates, requiring no background knowledge or college degree, and teaching skills needed for entry-level roles. According to the report, 50 percent of the top courses in India, such as Google’s Foundations: Data, Data, Everywhere, and Foundations of Project Management, are part of these programs. Foundations of Digital Marketing and E-commerce by Google 8. Ask Questions to Make Data-Driven Decisions by Google 9. Foundations of Project Management by Google 10. AI For Everyone by DeepLearning.AI Out of these popular courses, five were hosted by Google and two by IIM Ahmedabad. Other popular courses included Financial Markets by Yale University, Supervised Machine Learning: Regression and Classification by Stanford University and DeepLearning.AI, and AI For Everyone by DeepLearning.AI.
